Fringe is a science fiction show created by J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The show revolves around the lives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation team, or commonly known as the Fringe Division of Boston, Massachusetts.

With the use of unorthodox “fringe” science, the team incorporates FBI investigative techniques in investigating unexplained cases. Usually, these cases are related with some ghostly occurrences and other mysterious events correlated with the surrounding parallel universe.

Fringe is labeled as a show combining all the other known sci-fi shows like The X-Files, Altered States, Dark Angel and The Twilight Zone.

The fringe team composes of special agent Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop as the mad scientist and his son Peter Bishop known as jack of all trades. The three works together to investigate on mysterious cases and incorporate fringe science in their investigations. The investigation ranges from transhumanist experiments up to apocalyptic prospect of technological singularity that may be possible in the presence of a parallel universe.
